Hasely Crawford Stadium

Welcome to Hasely Crawford Stadium

It is the most storied national venue of Trinidad and Tobago. Few other venues can match the versatility and heritage of Hasely Crawford Stadium (HCS). Titled after track and field icon Hasely Joachim Crawford, the stadium is a living testament to the indomitable spirit of this country and its people.

Since its inauguration on June 12, 1982, this facility has stood the test of time, just like the legacy of its namesake, who was honoured with the official renaming of the stadium on December 30, 1996.

The HCS, which underwent a transformation in 2023, boasts a seating capacity of up to 23,000 spectators. It’s an event hub for concerts, Carnival shows and a wide range of other public events, such as family days, car shows and even wedding receptions. It’s a haven for sport and features a certified Mondo track for top-level athletics competitions. It proudly hosted Commonwealth Youth Games (Trinbago 2023) action, including the opening ceremony.

Hasely Crawford Stadium is a popular choice for corporate events, too. The VIP Room accommodates 250 guests in theatre-style luxury, and the conference rooms are equipped with modern amenities for formal events.

Beyond its firm place in sporting history, the Hasely Crawford Stadium allows you to create unforgettable moments; the perfect canvas for you to paint an event masterpiece.

Athlete Profile

Hasely Joachim Crawford born on August 16th, 1950, in the heart of south Trinidad—the city of San Fernando. He embodies the spirit of Trinidad and Tobago, both as a legend of track and field and an ambassador for the sport.

His crowning moment in sport came in 1976 at the Olympics in Montreal, Canada, as Crawford sprinted his way into the history books, clinching gold medal in the 100m finals to permanently etch his name into the pantheon of sporting greats as Trinidad and Tobago’s first Olympic gold medallist.

In 1978, Crawford was awarded the country’s highest honour—the Trinity Cross. In 2000, Trinidad and Tobago unanimously celebrated him as the “Athlete of the Millennium.” Today, 45 years after his remarkable victory, Hasely Crawford remains an inspiration to younger generations and a symbol of unwavering patriotism.

The Hasely Crawford Stadium, with its state-of-the-art facilities and versatile event spaces, serves as a fitting tribute to his legacy.
